Happy Birthday, Canada!
July 1st, Canada Day, is the unofficial start to summer in Canada. This is the day many look forward to changing gears and taking it easy for the next couple of months. But what happens to your business come September?
I’ve heard several entrepreneurs and business professionals ask why so many networking groups stop meeting in the summer. After all, business doesn’t stop!
Yes, it’s true…many of us take time off. But for the majority, you can’t close your business for July and August. So how do you get the best of both worlds?
If you find that your networking is limited this summer, be creative. This is the perfect time to initiate one-on-one luncheons or coffee meetings at an outdoor café, play a round of golf or tennis, or have a client appreciation barbecue in your backyard. The point is to make a point of connecting regularly.
For me, I love the outdoors and sitting in my tranquil backyard. So I often move my laptop to the patio – the perfect balance for enjoying the sun and working my business. And if you find that your business slows when your clients are away, use that time effectively – to work ON your business. Plan specific time for new business development – and personal development.
Enjoy the summer…play safe and work your network.
